A proud native of West Virginia, Kelley Brown graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University with a B.A. in History and International Studies as part of the University Honors Program. She went on to earn her J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law, where she distinguished herself as Executive Editor of the Law Review, Chair of the Ethics Committee, and a member of the Order of the Coif.
Kelley began her legal career in the labor and employment department of a large defense firm, where she spent six years advising clients on a wide range of workplace issues, including discrimination, harassment, reasonable accommodation, family and medical leave, wage and hour compliance, drug testing, privacy, and collective bargaining. She also litigated and argued cases before state and federal courts and administrative agencies.
Finding that she enjoyed proactive problem-solving with clients, Kelley transitioned to in-house counsel at Columbia Gas Transmission (later NiSource), where she supported human resources, corporate security, and ethics departments. Her practice expanded to include OSHA compliance, Homeland Security matters, gas pipeline safety, and property law.
Kelley offers tailored, concierge-level support to businesses and individuals, with a particular focus on human resources and employment guidance as a licensed West Virginia attorney, and where appropriate, under the supervision of Illinois counsel.
Kelley is committed to community service at the local level. She has volunteered with area organizations such as Hesed House, Knox Presbyterian Church, Tall Grass Lightning Swim Team, Junior Great Books, and the Naperville League of Women Voters. She has also been actively involved in PTAs at every level of her child's education. Currently, she serves as Executive Board Secretary for the Indian Prairie Parents Council and the Waubonsie Valley High School Orchestra Parents Association, as well as Scholarship Chair for the Waubonsie Valley High School PTA.
